It feels like Family Guy has been on television forever, and with so many episodes – maybe even 11 trillion! – it’s surprising to learn one of its main characters is getting his own show. Fox has announced a spinoff series called Stewie, focusing on the iconic baby, and it’s scheduled to premiere in 2027.
Ever wonder who the coolest baby on TV is? It’s Stewie Griffin! According to Deadline, Fox is making a show all about him, and they’ve already ordered two seasons!
The new series comes from Seth MacFarlane, who will continue to voice Stewie. He developed it alongside Family Guy writer Kirker Butler. The show will center on Stewie’s adventures at preschool, and will also feature time and space travel. According to Deadline‘s Nellie Andreeva, the series feels like a Family Guy take on shows like Muppet Babies and The Magic School Bus.
After being expelled from his first preschool, Stewie has to attend a less-than-ideal new school. He’s surrounded by unfamiliar kids and an elderly turtle who has opinions on everything. Everyone is unhappy, until Stewie starts using his gadgets to transport them all on incredible journeys through space and time, making school anything but boring.

According to Andreeva, the new Stewie series will likely have less than 15 episodes per season, unlike the current length of Family Guy seasons. This will be the second spin-off from the franchise, following The Cleveland Show, which aired from 2009 to 2013. We enjoyed The Cleveland Show and are excited about Stewie—we’d love to see him explore his backstory! Hopefully, he can even give us a glimpse into how many episodes the entire series has produced over the years.
