Four ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Stars Want to Join New Spinoff or Main Show After Series Finale

The TV series “9-1-1: Lone Star” has concluded after five seasons, but there’s a possibility that fans might encounter its characters again. Originally airing on Fox, this show was a derivative of “9-1-1,” and now, four of its principal actors have expressed their desire to appear in either the original “9-1-1” series or an upcoming spinoff.

The cancellation of “9-1-1: Lone Star” was made following its transition from Fox to ABC. This shift wasn’t due to poor viewership ratings, but rather complications related to Disney’s ownership of the series’ production studio. Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, stated that although they cherished “Lone Star,” the financial aspects didn’t align well, particularly with the show airing on a Fox network, which is owned by Disney.

Murphy hinted at an upcoming show in a different location, though he kept the specifics under wraps. What he did confirm is that it’s going to be a blast!

Despite 9-1-1: Lone Star having concluded, four principal actors have expressed a strong desire to carry on with their characters within the 9-1-1 universe.

As a fan following in his footsteps, I can say that Rob Lowe, the man behind Owen Strand, expresses a willingness to reprise his role, yet he insists on reviewing the narrative and the creative process. He’s intrigued only if it maintains the exceptional production standards as seen in Lone Star.

I’m open to anything, a lesson I learned long ago. The success or failure of something depends on many factors: the context, the performers, and the quality of the production. Is it just an imitation, or does it maintain the high standards we set for our show? It’s hard to predict, we’ll just have to wait and see what unfolds.

Gina Torres, who took on the character of Tommy Vega, expressed her excitement about potentially reprising the role again. She spoke highly of her experience playing Tommy, noting that she valued the chance to portray a complex character who demonstrated strength, vulnerability, and humor. She’s thankful for having been given this opportunity in the first place and hopes to step back into the role once more.

I’ve been privileged to portray this character, Tommy, and I must admit, initially, I was simply thrilled to secure a role. You welcomed me into the team amidst the pandemic uncertainty, and I felt incredibly grateful to reconnect with an esteemed colleague like Tim. Then came the chance to meet Rashad and be part of his life, and it wasn’t just a job. It offered a unique opportunity to foster a new family bond and create truly enchanting moments on screen, and to immerse myself in the art of acting.

I want to emphasize this point strongly, especially now – I’ve been in the industry for a while, and it’s quite unusual for a woman, particularly one of color, to portray such a richly developed character. This role is multi-dimensional, allowing her to display humor, vulnerability, strength, and even failure with a chance to recover. For this reason alone, I will forever be thankful, and I hope there are more roles like this in the future.

Ronen Rubenstein expressed that if given the chance, he would gladly accept reprising his role as Tyler Kennedy “TK” Strand. He feels it would be quite challenging to resist such an opportunity.

Rafael L. Silva, the actor behind Carlos Reyes, has shown enthusiasm for reprising his role. He feels that there’s plenty of room for growth in the universe of their characters, and he’s excited about creating more unforgettable on-screen experiences together.
