Fortnite pulls Peacemaker “swastika” dance emote

With the second season of HBO Max’s *Peacemaker* ending, some surprising details have come to light. The team has been investigating a bizarre alternate dimension with a dark twist: the American flag is replaced with a swastika instead of stars.

The show begins similarly to its first season with a choreographed dance number. The main characters perform the routine without showing any emotion, though this time they’re dancing to a new song and performing different moves.

After the disturbing connection to Nazi imagery was revealed, many noticed the dance’s movements actually resembled a swastika, particularly in the way the performers positioned their arms.

So, Epic Games put this new emote in Fortnite called “Peaceful Hips” back in September. It was a dance, and I actually bought it for 400 V-Bucks – which is about three bucks. But then, something crazy happened on the show it was based on, and Epic pulled the emote from the game. They’re giving everyone who bought it a refund, which is pretty cool of them.

Epic Games announced on Twitter that they’re removing the ‘Peaceful Hips’ emote from Fortnite while they investigate the creative choices behind it with their collaborator. If the emote won’t be returning, players will receive refunds within the next few days. They apologized for any inconvenience.

Fortnite players will soon be able to buy items directly from the game’s creators, but items containing hate symbols, like those associated with Nazis, won’t be allowed.
