Lately, Meghan Markle has faced a wave of criticism following her latest Netflix production titled “With Love, Meghan.” Ever since its debut, the show has generated much conversation, earning ratings of 2.8 on IMDb and 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it seems that a significant portion of this buzz has stemmed from negative reviews.
This week, a supporter of the Duchess of Sussex voiced their criticism along with many others regarding the series. In the past, Canadian Comedian Katherine Ryan has expressed support for Markle, and this time she spoke out about the Netflix production seeming overly “polished” or controlled. She shared her thoughts on this topic in her podcast, Telling Everybody Everything.
She expressed that she admired Meghan Markle, yet felt a sense of support for her, despite her being quite Hollywood-like, which isn’t usually appealing to her. However, she began to doubt the authenticity of some of the stories the Duchess has shared, as they seem inconsistent and questionable. She further mentioned that it appears Meghan may have lied about knowing Prince Harry and there are discrepancies in her accounts of her childhood experiences, which don’t seem to align properly.
Ryan swiftly highlighted that in earlier interviews, Meghan Markle mentioned eating “homegrown farm produce,” but during the program, she stated instead that she consumed “prepackaged TV dinners” as a child. The comedian went on to remark, “Her persona appears extremely polished and staged.
Markle’s brother has recently voiced doubts about his sister’s account, even going so far as to label it as “nonsense” in a conversation with TalkTV.
Katherine clarified that even though she isn’t supportive of Meghan’s series, she doesn’t view her as a negative individual. Instead, Katherine believes that Meghan is pursuing the large $100 million deal and enjoys being married to a prince, which is understandable.
