Apple TV+ is earning praise for a practice that’s rare among streaming services: letting shows run their natural course. They typically allow critically acclaimed series with dedicated fans to finish their planned storylines, and that’s happening with For All Mankind. According to Deadline, the show will conclude with its upcoming sixth season, as originally intended. This announcement comes as the fifth season premieres on March 27, with a spinoff series, Star City, set to debut on May 29.
Showrunners Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi shared that they’re excited to conclude the story of For All Mankind after six seasons, just as they envisioned. They expressed immense pride in the series and thanked Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television for their support in bringing it to a satisfying conclusion.
Created by the minds behind Outlander and Battlestar Galactica, Ronald D. Moore’s For All Mankind imagines a different version of history. In this world, the United States didn’t stop competing in the space race. As a result, space exploration continued rapidly throughout the late 20th century. The series begins with the Soviet Union landing on the moon first, which dramatically altered the course of events. This captivating sci-fi drama then unfolds over the decades, showing us a fascinating possibility of how things could have turned out.
The Apple TV+ series For All Mankind features Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt. Season five welcomes new cast members Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz, and Ines Asserson. If you haven’t seen it yet, now’s a great time to start – all four seasons are currently available on Apple TV+.
