Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Celebrates 56th Birthday by Volunteering for Los Angeles Wildfire Relief Efforts

On his 56th birthday, Dave Grohl chose to express gratitude by contributing to the local Los Angeles community that’s currently battling wildfires.

On a chilly Tuesday, the 14th of January, I found myself, heart pounding with excitement, joining forces with the remarkable crew at Feed the Streets – a beacon of hope in these challenging times. As a volunteer, I was part of an unwavering effort to distribute nourishment to families grappling with adversity and our tireless firefighters, battling heroically on the frontlines of this tragedy. Truly, it was a day that left me feeling humbled, grateful, and more passionate than ever about giving back to my community.

Over on my Instagram Stories, there I was, knee-deep in a vat of vibrant red sauce, working side by side with some fantastic volunteers! Later, I shared another clip where I, a resident of the bustling city of Angels (a.k.a Los Angeles), could be seen pushing a laden cart. It seems we were all part of an exciting project, and I couldn’t be happier to contribute!

Previously, Grohl has taken time out of his schedule to participate in volunteer work. On Super Bowl Sunday in February, the Los Angeles non-profit Hope the Mission posted an Instagram reel showing Grohl and some friends grilling 70 pork butts for The Woodland Family Shelter. They mentioned that Grohl, along with his companions, spent over 24 hours at the center working for this organization.

In December 2023, as reported by the Daily Mail, Dave Grohl paused his Foo Fighters tour to offer his services in Melbourne. Specifically, he volunteered at The Big Umbrella, a charity that runs a street kitchen for homeless individuals. During this time, he spent several hours dishing out meals at their location in Federation Square.

In February of 2023, Grohl lent a helping hand by serving meals to the homeless alongside Hope the Mission, even spending an entire day grilling non-stop. A spokesperson from the organization verified that not only did Grohl, but also his friends, prepared over 500 meals for three different shelters in the city.

On Tuesday, January 7th, the fires in Los Angeles ignited and, at the time of composing this piece, have yet to be contained. The blaze has blackened vast expanses of land, destroying numerous buildings such as homes and businesses, leaving countless individuals heartbroken, and resulting in the loss of 25 lives.
