Florence Pugh Spills Beans Over Beef-Like Storyline in Marvel Film Thunderbolts; Calls It ‘Assassin Movie With Superheroes’

Florence Pugh is openly discussing her forthcoming Marvel film, Thunderbolts*. In an interview with The Empire, actress Florence Pugh, along with director Jake Schreier of the upcoming MCU production, have shared insights about the movie, including its plot and what viewers can anticipate.

As seen in the past films, Black Widow and Hawkeye, I’m set to once again embody the character of Yelena Belova, the widowed assassin, Pugh.

Speaking exclusively to you, I’m delighted to share my perspective on the film. As far as I’m concerned, it transformed into a gritty, edgy, and utterly captivating indie flick reminiscent of A24 productions, but with a twist – Marvel superheroes! It’s an unusual blend that promises an exciting ride for audiences.

In the process, Schreier – the one sitting in the director’s seat for the movie – expressed that viewers could catch a hint of the Beef series, which was an original production by A24. The filmmaker asserted, “There’s a definite flavor of the Beef style in it that sets it apart.

He also pointed out, “We infused a deep, resonating sadness into it, yet without compromising the humor.

Concerning the independent aspect, the description isn’t confined solely to the rising stars within Thunderbolts. In terms of their individual characters, each member seems somewhat adrift or disoriented.

Expanding on his statement, Pugh disclosed that Pullman’s character Bob appears to be experiencing similar hidden struggles as the others. On the contrary, Yelena seems to find a tender side in him and essentially takes care of him since he’s quite inept, being completely ineffective.

The actress emphasized that the Thunderbolts may not conform to typical expectations, but rather, they hold unique importance for each member separately.

Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 2.
