First Trailer Released for Charles Pellegrino’s Book, Soon to Be Adapted by James Cameron

The promotional video for Charles Pellegrino’s book titled “Ghosts of Hiroshima” has been launched. This factual account is scheduled to be published on August 5 by Blackstone Publishing and The Story Factory, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings in Japan.

This book stands out due to being adapted into a film by three-time Academy Award winner James Cameron, who acquired the rights in September 2024. Notably, the author of the hit novel “Her Name, Titanic“, Pellegrino, served as a science consultant for Cameron on both “Avatar” and “Titanic”.

For Cameron, “Ghosts of Hiroshima” has been a long-cherished project. It marks his first movie outside the “Avatar” series since he received the Best Picture Oscar for “Titanic”. He intends to begin filming once he completes work on “Avatar”.

The trailer is spoken by Martin Sheen, a three-time Emmy Award winner, who also provides the audiobook’s voiceover. Cameron selected Sheen specifically due to his belief that Sheen’s voice would add the necessary gravitas. He cited Sheen’s powerful narration in “Apocalypse Now” as one of the reasons for this choice. Notably, Sheen had only lent his voice to one other trailer previously, for Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning film “JFK.

The trailer showcases music created by renowned composer Hans Zimmer. It portrays a plane soaring above the clouds and commences with a replay of President Harry Truman’s speech from August 6, 1945, regarding the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Concluding the trailer is J. Robert Oppenheimer’s well-known quote from sacred Hindu texts: “‘Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.’

The captivating true tale, Echoes from Hiroshima, recounts the extraordinary survival journey of a Japanese individual who endured not just one but two atomic bombings during World War II. Having miraculously survived the blast in Hiroshima, he bravely boarded a train to Nagasaki and lived to tell another tale after enduring another bombing there.

The book was developed from extensive research in forensic archaeology spanning many years, as well as interviews conducted with more than 200 survivors and their relatives. Shane Salerno’s Story Factory served as Pellegrino’s representative during the book’s publication process.
