Coming to Amazon Prime Video on January 28, 2026, the film centers on two half-brothers who join forces to uncover the truth about their father’s murder in Hawaii.
Ángel Manuel Soto directed and Jonathan Tropper wrote The Wrecking Crew, an action comedy about two mismatched cops. Jason Momoa stars as Jonny, a reckless and impulsive officer, and Dave Bautista plays James, a by-the-book Navy SEAL. Despite a twenty-year-long feud, they’re forced to team up and solve a dangerous mystery.

The film features a talented cast including Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root, and Morena Baccarin. Sadly, it will be the last on-screen performance from David Hekili Kenui Bell, who passed away in June. Bell was also in the recent live-action version of Lilo & Stitch, with Maia Kealoha.
The project started as an idea from Tropper, Momoa, and Bautista. MGM acquired the film rights in 2021 after a competitive bidding process involving four companies. Initially, David Leitch was planned as the director, and Hawaii was considered as a filming location. However, due to scheduling issues, Ángel Manuel Soto took over as director in August 2023. Filming officially began in October 2024, taking place in both Hawaii and New Zealand.
The film’s score is composed by Bobby Krlic, who previously collaborated with Soto on Blue Beetle.

The upcoming movie, The Wrecking Crew, blends action, humor, and heartwarming family moments. The trailer is already creating a buzz online, and with a fantastic cast and an exciting story, it’s shaping up to be a major success in 2026.
