First Trailer Drops for the Live-Action ‘Sakamoto Days’ Movie

Fans can now get a first glimpse of the upcoming live-action Sakamoto Days movie thanks to a new teaser released on the official website. The teaser also revealed the film’s release date in Japan: April 29, 2026.

The first look at Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto is revealed in a new teaser. Viewers are seeing him in the character’s bulkier physique for the first time, which required lengthy daily makeup sessions to create, according to the production team.

Yuichi Fukuda, a director known for adapting manga into live-action films, is directing and writing the screenplay. Keiya Taguchi, an experienced action director with credits on many popular projects, is handling the film’s action sequences.

Fumiya Takahashi will play Shin Asakura, Aya Ueto will play Aoi Sakamoto, and Miyu Yoshimoto will play Hana Sakamoto in the movie. These cast members were officially announced by the film’s team.

Sakamoto Days is a manga created by Yuto Suzuki that started in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020. It’s about a retired hitman trying to live a normal life with his family, running a small shop. According to VIZ Media, the peaceful life doesn’t last, and Sakamoto is forced to return to the world of assassins or face the consequences. The manga has been published in multiple volumes in both Japanese and English, and an anime adaptation premiered on Netflix in early 2025.

The recently released preview has generated a lot of buzz, with fans eager to see how the manga’s blend of action and humor will translate to the big screen.
