First ‘Scream 7’ Trailer Reveals Neve Campbell’s Epic Return as Sidney Prescott

The first trailer for Scream 7 is here, and fans are excited to see Neve Campbell reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott. Directed by Kevin Williamson, the new horror movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 27, 2026, according to Paramount Pictures.

Okay, so the trailer immediately throws you into this crazy scene at Stu Macher’s old house – it’s been turned into a *Screamthemed experience, which, naturally, goes horribly wrong for the people inside. Then it quickly shifts focus to Sidney Prescott’s return, and it’s clear Ghostface still hasn’t gotten over her… and now he’s fixated on her daughter too. It’s unsettling, to say the least!

This movie is a sequel to Scream VI, continuing the story and featuring the return of the terrifying Ghostface, who will target a new group of people.

Joining Campbell in the new film are several returning stars, like Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Roger L. Jackson, who once again provides the voice for the Ghostface killer. David Arquette will also be back as Dewey Riley, even though his character died in a previous movie, leading fans to speculate about how he’ll return.

The cast is growing with Isabel May joining as Sidney’s daughter and Joel McHale playing her husband. Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, and Mckenna Grace are also part of the project, but their specific roles haven’t been revealed yet.

Filming on the seventh Scream movie finished earlier this year, but it wasn’t an easy process. Initially, Christopher Landon, the director of Happy Death Day, was set to direct, but he left after key cast members departed. The unexpected exits of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, both stars of the last two Scream films, meant the movie needed a complete creative reset.

Barrera was let go from the film in November 2023 following her online statements regarding the conflict in Gaza. Ortega later explained she chose to leave because of shifts in the movie’s team and overall vision.

Jenna Ortega explained to Vanity Fair in 2025 that issues surrounding the film Melissa were creating problems. She said that unless Scream VII could be made with the same directors and crew she’d enjoyed working with previously, she didn’t want to participate.

I was so relieved when Kevin Williamson, the creative force behind the original Scream movies, took over as director after Landon left. It was a big step for him – his first time directing in this franchise! They shot everything between January and March, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting it ever since.

The new trailer teases a darker, more emotional tone as Sidney faces her greatest challenge yet.

Okay, so the new Scream movie takes place a few years after the last one, and it’s giving me serious Stranger Things vibes – that feeling of a small town being totally creeped out and on edge. But Ghostface? They’ve really upped the ante! This Ghostface is way more intense and seems to be targeting people on a really personal level. As a longtime fan, I’m excited to see they’re bringing back some cool references to the original movies, but also hinting at a big picture reveal that could connect everything together. It sounds like they’re really tying up loose ends, which I’m totally here for!

Even though there’s been some trouble making the movie, excitement for Scream 7 is incredibly high. With Neve Campbell returning, horror fans are anticipating a potentially final, and terrifying, chapter for one of the most famous characters in horror history.
