First Look At Zelda Movie: Leaked Set Videos Show Link and Zelda

Leaked footage from the set of the live-action Legend of Zelda movie has given fans their first glimpse of the film, filmed on location in New Zealand.

The behind-the-scenes footage shows what it was like to film the production, featuring actors in their costumes, horses on location, and the entire crew working in a forest setting.

Recently leaked video appears to show Bo Bragason as Zelda, wearing a blue, medieval-inspired dress. Next to her is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, seemingly playing Link in his iconic green tunic and leather chest strap.

The remote, wild landscape of New Zealand is a perfect backdrop for a Zelda-inspired story, creating the fantastical atmosphere fans would expect.

Zelda Film Now in Production

Filming is underway for the upcoming Zelda movie, a collaboration between Nintendo and Sony Pictures. Wes Ball, known for directing The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is directing the film, with Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad serving as producers. These recent set photos have emerged shortly after Miyamoto officially announced the lead actors, Bragason and Ainsworth.

These new clips show the movie is still moving forward despite a change in its release date. It’s now scheduled to come out on May 7, 2027.

Zelda’s Film Look Stays Close to the Games

Even though the video isn’t official and the quality isn’t great, the costumes seem to match what fans hope for in a Zelda adaptation. The inclusion of horses, wooded trails, and what appears to be a real-world set—instead of relying heavily on special effects—hints that the filmmakers are aiming for the natural and realistic environments the Zelda games are famous for.

Okay, I’m really excited for the Zelda movie, but there’s definitely pressure on it! The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a huge hit for Nintendo, and now everyone’s wondering if Zelda can live up to that, especially since it’s going for a more realistic, live-action feel. It’s a tough act to follow, but I’m hoping it delivers!
