I was so excited to see the first images from Zack Snyder’s new film, The Last Photograph! It’s amazing to finally get a peek at what he’s been working on, and it definitely has me eager to see the whole movie.
The movie centers on a man’s desperate search for his young niece and nephew following their parents’ murder. His only lead is a war photographer who witnessed the crime. Together, they embark on a perilous trek through the mountains of South America, where things begin to feel strange and unreal.
I just finished watching The Last Photograph, and it’s a Zack Snyder-directed film he also co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad, building the story from an original idea of his own. Stuart Martin and Fra Fee carry the movie as its main stars, and they both deliver compelling performances.

This project has been a long time in the making for Snyder, starting in the mid-2000s. Though the rights to the story were once lost, producer Gianni Nunnari later reacquired them. Originally, Christian Bale and Sean Penn were set to star in 2011, but they eventually moved on. The film finally received the go-ahead in August, with Stuart Martin and Fra Fee cast in the leading roles.
As a film buff, I was really excited to learn they shot the movie in some incredible locations – Iceland, Colombia, and Los Angeles! What’s even more impressive is that Zack Snyder actually did the cinematography himself. He announced in November that they’d wrapped up filming, and gave a shout-out to the whole international crew for all their hard work – a nice touch, honestly.
The music for the film will be composed by Hans Zimmer, Omer Benyamin, and Steven Doar.
The initial photos from the movie reveal a powerful and suspenseful atmosphere, suggesting the characters will encounter difficult obstacles.
