Recently released photos from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, offer a first glimpse of Robert Pattinson portraying Antinous, a major villain in Homer’s classic story, along with other new details.
The photos are from the newest issue of Empire Magazine, and Matt Damon describes the film as incredibly entertaining.

Robert Pattinson is shown wearing impressive Ithacan armor, sitting with those who want to take over the kingdom, hinting at the upcoming battles with Tom Holland, playing Telemachus, and Matt Damon as Odysseus.

Pattinson Plays Antinous, Leader of the Suitors
In Homer’s Odyssey, Antinous is the most conceited of the men trying to marry Penelope, believing Odysseus is dead. Robert Pattinson seems perfect for the role, fitting director Christopher Nolan’s realistic yet dramatic approach. This follows Pattinson’s recent leading roles in films like The Batman, Tenet, and The Lighthouse, and marks another collaboration with Nolan after they previously worked together.

More Images: Damon, Zendaya, Holland, Hathaway, and Leguizamo
New photos reveal Matt Damon portraying Odysseus and Zendaya as Athena. Tom Holland will play Odysseus’s son, Telemachus.

Anne Hathaway plays Penelope, the wife of Odysseus. John Leguizamo appears as Eumaeus, a devoted friend who remained loyal to Odysseus until the very end.

The film’s visuals highlight Nolan’s preference for building things for real – using actual sets, sunlight, and authentic props. Everything from the costumes and weapons to the environments were physically created, rather than relying on digital effects.

As a film buff, I’m really excited because this might be the first time we get a proper look at the underwater scenes, the incredible practical effects, and just the overall feel Christopher Nolan is going for with this movie. It’s a big deal to finally see what he’s envisioned!

Release Date
Universal Pictures will release The Odyssey in theaters on July 17, 2026. It’s Christopher Nolan’s most ambitious film yet, shot entirely on full-frame IMAX using a brand-new type of film.
