At long last, we’ve got our first glimpse of Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein, featuring a cast member in action! In this sneak peek, Oscar Isaac portrays Doctor Frankenstein, and he appears to be clutching an enigmatic vial… and he’s downright terrifyingly convincing. We can hardly wait for more tidbits, but for now, we’re quite satisfied with just this tantalizing still. Though, if the quality of this initial image from Netflix’s Frankenstein is any indication, a full trailer promises to be even more captivating, and the entire film could very well be mind-blowing. This year has been a great one for universal monsters, and we have high hopes that Guillermo del Toro’s rendition of Frankenstein will not disappoint—and this image only fuels our anticipation.
In this initial glimpse of the film by Guillermo del Toro, it’s unclear with whom Oscar Isaac’s Doctor Frankenstein is conversing. The contents of the vial he carries remain a mystery as well. However, one thing that’s certain is that his vest appears to be corseted and cinched. And let me tell you, given just these two images, everything about the movie – its opulence, intensity, and sheer astonishing quality – has left us thoroughly impressed.
