As a long-time fan of the MonsterVerse and someone who has spent countless nights huddled under blankets watching these colossal creatures clash, I am beyond excited about the upcoming comic series ‘Mothra: Queen of The Monsters’. The introduction of Antra, this creepy, bug-like kaiju that seems to have Mothra in its crosshairs, has me on the edge of my seat.
In the world of the MonsterVerse, it’s common to encounter strange beasts. Godzilla has battled some frightening adversaries such as Hedorah and Biollante in the past. In an upcoming comic series titled ‘Mothra: Queen of The Monsters‘, due out on March 5 next year, a new and terrifying insect kaiju called ‘Antra ‘ makes its appearance.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but express my awe at this latest terrifying monster taking over our screens, earning the title of the most unsettling kaiju yet. What makes it even more intriguing is that instead of targeting Godzilla, its focus appears to be on Mothra, the revered queen herself.
According to IDW Publishing, the narrative unfolds in a world that’s fallen into turmoil following Mothra’s conquest by Antra. Humans are now hiding as massive monsters known as kaiju freely roam the land. The only glimmer of hope lies with Mira, a resilient young woman who hails from the desolate wastelands.
Marvel at the Empress of Disorder, ANTRA! Created by @mooncalfe1 and myself, Antra is the colossal queen of a fresh breed of monstrous ant-like beings. She’s one of the pulse-pounding horrors that lie in store within #MOTHRA: Queen of the Monsters, launching from @IDWPublishing next March!

Mira’s exciting journey starts when her long-lost twin sister shows up with two tiny magical creatures, hinting that Mira might hold the secret to reviving Mothra and saving our planet. Their strategy entails a thrilling trip back in time to the Jurassic era to find Mothra’s egg.
Artist Matt Frank, who introduced Antra, refers to this new bug kaiju as the ‘Empress of Disorder’. Although Godzilla’s presence in the comic isn’t yet verified, it appears that Mothra urgently needs allies to face such a formidable opponent.
Beyond just appearing in the comic books, Mothra’s influence extends to the MonsterVerse movies. Though she met her end in ‘Godzilla: King of The Monsters’, she reappeared in ‘Godzilla vs. Kong: Shogunathe New Empire’.
In this virtual world I inhabit, I was instrumental in forging an alliance between the titans Godzilla and Kong, as they joined forces to take down their foes, Shimo and the Skar King. This triumphant battle has now paved the way for the announcement of another epic clash in the upcoming Godzilla x Kong movie number three!
Additionally, it’s been verified that ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’, a series on Apple TV+, will have its second season. In this new installment, there’s speculation that Mothra could make an appearance following her absence in the first season.
As a passionate gamer and fan of the MonsterVerse, I’m thrilled to hear that the streaming service is cooking up a spin-off series! While specifics are still under wraps, this development hints at an exciting future for the iconic kaiju universe. Can’t wait to see what unfolds!
