As a long-time Marvel fan who’s seen the rise and fall (and rise again) of countless superheroes, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement when I hear about the upcoming “Eyes of Wakanda”. The teaser Marvel Studios released recently has only fueled my anticipation for this globetrotting adventure.
Marvel Studios is shifting its attention towards animated series, offering fans an exciting array of fresh content coming up soon. A sneak peek has been unveiled, revealing the launch dates for upcoming shows in 2024 and 2025. Among them is the previously announced show, Eyes of Wakanda, which was confirmed almost a year ago.
The show chronicles Wakandan warriors on a global quest to locate perilous vibranium artifacts. It was announced in December 2023 and is being produced with assistance from Ryan Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media, known for their work on the Black Panther movies.
The official synopsis for the show has been released, and it looks like we’ll follow a thrilling quest by the Hatut Zeraze to find Vibranium, racing against Wakanda’s enemies.
In this thrilling journey around the world, our protagonists embark on perilous tasks to recover precious Vibranium relics from the adversaries of Wakanda. Known as the Hatut Zeraze, this is their tale.
In simpler terms, the “Hatut Zeraze,” known as “Dogs of War,” serve as Wakanda’s covert law enforcement. Their duties include apprehending, interrogating harshly, and eliminating threats to the nation, whether those threats originate from within or outside Wakanda’s borders.
The most exciting aspect of the show is that it will link up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as announced by Marvel’s television executive, Brad Winderbaum. Unlike other Marvel animated series, Eyes of Wakanda is seamlessly integrated into the MCU and aligns with various segments within the franchise’s canonical timeline.
The lineup features Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint, and Anika Noni Rose among its actors.
On August 6, 2025, the “Eyes of Wakanda” series is set to premiere on Disney+. This six-phase Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) venture will mark the beginning of Phase Six with a total of four episodes.
