However, the Writers Guild strike extended indefinitely, causing a sense of impending doom. In that critical moment, I reached out to Chris, saying, “We need to keep moving forward, buddy. Our vision has always been to seamlessly transition from one film to the next. Let’s brainstorm some alternatives.

Enthused by Perkins’ energetic, hands-on style, Maslany swiftly agreed to be part of “The Monkey“. The movie is already sparking interest due to its intriguing mix of suspense and horror, with the film’s examination of unexpected, tragic occurrences being shaped by Perkins’ own experiences.

In summary, our team managed to locate a talented Canadian author for the task (not one affiliated with Writers Guild, specifically Nick Lepard). Subsequently, we secured Canadian performers willing to forego their SAG membership and work under their native nationality.

We created the film “Keeper” from scratch and continued to refine it as we went along. We did it quickly and adaptively. It was a product of trust and goodwill. This movie is quite personal, small-scale, and slightly peculiar, featuring only two main characters. We completed shooting this movie on a Friday, and by Monday, we were already in the offices of “The Monkey.” The process just flowed naturally for us.
