In the game “Monster Hunter Wilds,” Firestones are relatively scarce treasures that are essential for crafting a plentiful amount of Low Rank weapons and armor. However, obtaining one isn’t as simple as it sounds.

It’s important to note that acquiring the Firestones is not something you can do quickly, since they are essential for crafting the Quematrice weapon set, which includes an early monster encounter in the Plains region, near the Ingot Graves armor. Despite your best efforts, these Firestones aren’t easily found in the Plains or even the Forest, and it will take some time to gather them.

How to get Firestone in Monster Hunter Wilds

The most prosperous spots for discovering numerous Mining Outcrops are Area 6 and Area 7 on the surface, yet if you can endure the volcanic heat with adequate Cold Drinks, venturing into Area 13, 16, and 17 deep within the Basin’s core offers the best opportunity not just for Mining Outcrops but also a higher probability of Firestone.

As you navigate towards a small blue marker on your map that indicates a Mining Outcrop, you have the option to interact with it, causing it to crack open. Inside, you’ll find a selection of three random gems. If by chance you discover a Firestone, your hunter will perform a brief animation, proudly raising the Firestone above their head in celebration, as this valuable material is quite rare.

If you remove all the Mining Sites from the vicinity, you’ll have to wait between 15 and 30 minutes for them to reappear, or engage in a mission where they might reset during combat. This will provide an opportunity for you to mine them again before focusing on your objective.

To effortlessly spot mining outcrops on your map, simply open your primary map, then use the directional keys on your controller or press the ‘A’ key on your keyboard to display a sliding menu at the bottom left of your screen. Navigate right to reach ‘Filter Icons’, and keep scrolling until you find the Mining Outcrop icon. To simplify your view, you can set this as the sole icon on your mini-map, allowing you to easily identify every location amidst the chaos.

At a higher rank, locating a Firestone will be much more straightforward, but by that point, you’ll find that it’s less crucial because rarer gems such as Novacrystals become more important, along with Monster Gems, Plates, and superior quality loot.
