As a long-time fan who has seen the rise and fall of Marvel Studios, I can confidently say that Beau DeMayo’s “Old Man Blade” pitch is nothing short of brilliant! The revival of Wesley Snipes as Blade was a much-needed breath of fresh air in the MCU, and this concept takes it to a whole new level.
The team-up of Deadpool and Wolverine marked a crucial step in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It not only brought these characters into the MCU fold, but as per Feige, it also laid the groundwork for the inclusion of mutants in upcoming movies.
The movie marked a shift towards a prosperous financial era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following a string of box office flops. Furthermore, it significantly contributed to the resurgence of Wesley Snipes’ acting career, particularly his role as Blade.
Wesley Snipes played the famous vampire hunter character Blade in three movies that were out before the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) came to be. The success of the initial Blade film significantly contributed to the resurgence of Marvel Studios, which was close to bankruptcy at that point in time.
Enthusiasts were overjoyed as Snipes returned to his iconic role, and Ryan Reynolds even proposed the idea of a farewell film for Snipes, akin to Hugh Jackman’s “Logan” (2017), to provide a fitting end to Blade’s storyline.
The idea seems promising, especially considering that after the original Blade trilogy, there was a less successful TV series featuring Sticky Fingaz as Blade. Revisiting Blade’s story could be a great opportunity.
It’s worth noting that Beau DeMayo, who previously worked on ‘X-Men ’97’, was so captivated by an idea he decided to propose a “Old Man Blade” narrative to his Twitter audience.
In this alternative world, vampires have mastered the art of daywalking and seized power, relegating humans to a life of subservience, much like cattle. Brother Voodoo, who stands with the human resistance, uncovers the fact that Blade was preserved or entombed. He then brings him back to life, so they can join forces and eliminate Varney and the Darkhold cult, aiming to eradicate all vampires. This story is inspired by the style of renowned Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa.
The story might fit perfectly within MCU’s timeline without disrupting its consistency, especially if it’s set somewhere other than our current universe or happens before “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Fans were enthusiastic about DeMayo’s idea, so it might be worthwhile for the recently dismissed writer to contact Reynolds.
Beau. Stop playing and get the treatment over to Ryan. PLEASE.

As someone who’s spent years honing my writing skills and developing stories, I was quite taken aback when you were removed from your role as a writer. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was a comic book reference or an original idea of yours, but that concept blew me away with its brilliance 🔥🔥🔥. Your unique perspective and creativity have added so much value to the team, and I can’t help but feel frustrated at your absence from our creative endeavors.

Have you heard? It seems the individual has some knowledge about the Marvel comics world, doesn’t he? (Marvel, Marvel Studios)

Friend, such an idea sounds incredibly exciting. I can’t help but wonder why Marvel finds it challenging to execute this concept effectively. Essentially, a charismatic African-American protagonist battling bloodthirsty vampires – that’s the gist, isn’t it? Let’s bring it to life!

It’s intriguing that Wesley and Goyer have suggested the possibility of a sequel featuring a real-life vampire apocalypse. I can only imagine how exciting that could be! Your perspective on it is fascinating.

I’m fully committed to that idea! I’m a big fan of Brother/Doctor Voodoo, and it would be fantastic to see him as a significant character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). You might remember that his brother was the guardian of the New York Sanctum until he met his unfortunate end at the hands of Kaecilius in 2016’s Doctor Strange. So, Jericho Drumm is undoubtedly part of the MCU somewhere.
