Following the recent finale of Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard hosted Saturday Night Live and received rave reviews. His opening monologue was particularly funny, playfully poking fun at his own experiences. Naturally, the monologue included references to the show that’s been a major part of his life for over ten years. A highlight of the night was seeing Wolfhard reunited with his Stranger Things co-stars, Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo, who joined him on stage.
Watch Finn Wolfhard’s Opening Monologue Here:
The entire comedic bit centered around Finn Wolfhard growing up on the show, starting with a joke about being watched by 400 million people during his awkward teenage years. He was only 12 years old when the first season came out, and for a long time, that’s how everyone knew him – as “the kid from Stranger Things,” and likely still does. The monologue playfully touched on milestones he experienced on screen, like his first kiss and voice changing, and now being old enough to drink. They even showed a clip from the first season, altered to make his voice sound deeper. Wolfhard ended his time on stage by being joined by former castmates Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo to begin the show.
The jokes about Stranger Things keep coming, and honestly, after ten years, we wouldn’t have it any other way! McLaughlin and Matarazzo team up with Wolfhard for a funny parody called Conformity Gate. (We know, we’re a little obsessed.) The sketch imagines different possibilities, including a hilarious scene where the three of them act like they’re in Sex and the City, gossiping about their lives. It’s a bit strange seeing them like this, but they’re all grown up now, and it’s great to see the three of them together on screen again.

Finn Wolfhard was a surprisingly great host on Saturday Night Live. He clearly has a talent for comedy, with excellent timing and a natural ability to connect with the audience. Hopefully, this performance leads to more comedic roles for him down the line. For now, his SNL monologue is sure to stay with us.
