As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about Finn Wolfhard‘s recent candid conversation with Variety at the Sundance Film Festival. He opened up about filming the final season of our beloved Netflix show, Stranger Things. This actor is currently on a promotional tour for his upcoming movie, The Legend of Ochi, which also happens to be his first media appearance since concluding season 5.
Regarding his final day on the Netflix series that he joined at age 12, the actor, now 22, expressed that it was a deeply emotional experience for him.
Reflecting on the past decade, the young actor realized that the series represented the shared history not just for him, but also for the entire team – cast, crew, and creator alike. Bidding farewell was a poignant moment for all involved, as they had collectively traversed a lengthy yet rewarding path together. For some members of the cast, this journey even spanned their childhood years.
Wolfhard analogized the farewell to a moment in Toy Story 3 when toys are abandoned, stating it was “very meaningful.” He further mentioned that the shooting for the final and “highly intense” season lasted an entire year, similar to The Lord of the Rings filming.
He playfully implied that things couldn’t have concluded any better,” he said. “The IT actor is enthusiastic about what lies ahead,” he continued. Regarding his upcoming film directed by debutant Isaiah Saxon, it delves into a range of creative elements such as puppetry, animatronics, matte paintings, and 3D animation.
The narrative centers on a girl named Yuri, raised in a village on the island of Carpathia, living in apprehension of a lethal animal group known as ochi. But when she stumbles upon an injured baby ochi abandoned somewhere, she embarks on a risky journey to return him safely home.
In the movie, the actors such as Wolfhard, Helena Zengel, Emily Watson, and Willem Dafoe had an extraordinary opportunity to perform alongside the actual movie creatures in real life situations. The Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor openly shared that utilizing practical effects during filming made their roles more effortless and interactive.
