As a long-time fan with over two decades of memories woven into the fabric of Final Fantasy VII, I can’t help but feel both anticipation and apprehension upon hearing Naoki Hamaguchi’s recent statements regarding DLC for FF7 Rebirth. The idea of additional content is always exciting, especially when it comes to a series as rich and beloved as this one. However, the commitment shown by the development team to deliver the third installment swiftly resonates deeply with my own experiences.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, has shared that there won’t be significant narrative-focused additional content released as downloadable packs for the game.
As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you firsthand that I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next installment in this amazing series. In a recent chat, the creators confided that while there’s a clear desire for expansions like ‘Episode Intermission’, their top priority is to bring us the third game as quickly and smoothly as they can.
Hamaguchi expressed, ‘It’s clear we’re hearing the demand from fans for more content in that style. I completely get it, but from my point of view, what fans truly crave isn’t just additional content like DLC. Instead, they’re eagerly anticipating the next installment of the series as soon as possible.’

Hamaguchi clarified that due to the priority of completing Part 3, the team has opted not to invest their resources in creating extra episodes for DLC at present. Instead, they’re devoting their energy and resources solely towards expediting the release of the third game. In other words, they’re focusing on Part 3 for now.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that our team’s unwavering dedication is evident in the swift progress we’re making on the next chapter of Final Fantasy 7. We understand the community’s eagerness for more, and by prioritizing Part 3, our goal is to deliver the continuation of this beloved saga without any unnecessary delays.
