FEAR STREET: PROM QUEEN Trailer Shows the Scariest Shadyside Story So Far

The beloved series “Fear Street” is making a comeback! The initial trilogy brought R.L. Stine’s less famously known but still spine-tingling book collection to the screen, introducing us to the mysterious town of Shadyside. In 1994, Deena Johnson managed to break a centuries-old curse in her hometown and exposed the malevolent Goode family for their heinous acts. Although a mid-credit scene hinted at a sequel, the forthcoming “Fear Street” film will not focus on these characters again. Instead, the trailer for “Fear Street: Prom Queen,” set in Shadyside High School in 1988, promises more horror and violence.

This evening is the much-anticipated Prom, and the most admired female students at the school are vying for the prestigious role of Prom Queen. However, as candidates mysteriously vanish, suspicion falls on a fresh contender who seems to deviate from the usual norms.

In the preview for “Fear Street: Prom Queen,” Belinda Carlisle’s song “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” echoes as we’re immersed in ’80s aesthetics. But rest assured, paradise doesn’t exist at Shadyside High School. The cutthroat rivalry among the girls and the menacing, hooded figure with an axe terrorizing prom-goers suggests otherwise. This might be the bloodiest episode yet in this series, which is exciting news!

In the upcoming movie “Fear Street: Prom Queen,” the star-studded cast includes India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Ariana Greenblatt, Lily Taylor, and Katherine Waterson. This film is scripted by Donald McLeary and Matt Palmer, who is also responsible for its direction in this installment. We’ll see if he can successfully portray the atmosphere of competitive and catty high school girls in the ’80s.
