The Fear Street series is growing, as a trailer for the movie adaptation of R.L. Stine’s fourth novel has been unveiled on Netflix. This upcoming film promises another dose of terror at Shadyside High, where the once joyous prom season takes a grisly turn into a gory event. Under the guidance of director Matt Palmer, the story unfolds in 1988.
The trailer opens with footage of a video camera capturing the bustling preparations for the prom. With excitement in the air, students can’t help but chat among themselves about the upcoming event. However, things take an unexpected turn when Meghan Rogers decides to play a shocking prank on her classmates.
In the course of the trailer, one character is seen fleeing from a mysterious figure in a mask, who pursues her down the corridor with lethal intent. It’s disclosed that the man wearing a red hood and mask possesses a yearbook containing photos of all the prom queens spanning multiple years.
In due course, the character portrayed by India Fowler, Lori Granger, notices an unusual absence at the ceremony. She subsequently inquires, “Where are all the crowned queens of the prom?
In the forthcoming Netflix movie, Fowler will be working alongside Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Ariana Greenblatt, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston in the cast.
The movie’s official description goes like this: “It’s time for prom at Shadyside High, and the clique of popular It Girls are busy with their usual mix of sweet and malicious maneuvers to secure the crown. However, when an audacious newcomer decides to join the race, and a string of mysterious disappearances begin to occur among the class of ’88, this year’s prom night promises to be one wild ride.
Simultaneously, it’s rumored that the upcoming film is a continuation of the Fear Street trilogy, comprising Fear Street Part One (set in 1994), Fear Street Part Two (set in 1978), and Fear Street Part Three (set in 1666).
Fear Street: Prom Queen will be available to stream on Netflix from May 23.
