Fast and Furious 11: When Is it Coming Out? All We Know So Far

Louis Leterrier, the director, has confirmed that Fast & Furious 11 will be released in 2026 instead of the previously anticipated year. Although Universal Studios has not formally declared a postponement or a new release date, it seems clear that fans will have to be patient longer than initially thought, as filming for the movie hasn’t started yet.

During a conversation with Collider, Leterrier disclosed that the recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in the previous year had a substantial influence on filming, causing delays. However, it’s expected that the cameras will start rolling again towards the end of this year.

Vin Diesel is coming back for Fast & Furious 11, with many characters from Dom’s family who survived Fast X likely to reappear in their roles. Other main cast members like Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw), Helen Mirren (Magdalene “Queenie” Ellmanson-Shaw), and Gal Gadot (Gisele) might also join the crew again.

In the continuation of Fast X, it’s possible that we’ll see returning characters such as Jason Momoa as the antagonist Dante Reyes, Brie Larson portraying the renegade agent Tess, and Daniela Melchior as the street racer Isabel from Brazil. These newcomers could potentially make a comeback in subsequent scenes.

It appeared that the eleventh installment in the franchise was meant to be its conclusion, but it now seems like the story might continue beyond this point, transforming into a trilogy. In an interview with Variety in June 2023, Vin Diesel disclosed that the studio had initially suggested dividing the film into two parts. According to Diesel, they asked if Fast X could be the finale, forming a trilogy.

The culmination is fast approaching, as revealed by Vin Diesel on Instagram in February 2024. After a week of discussions with writers and staff, he expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’ve just concluded our final meeting for the week with the writers and the entire team… To say that the anticipation for our conclusion is intense is an understatement; it’s truly electrifying!”

Diesel referred to the upcoming finale as more than just an ending; it’s also a celebration of the extraordinary family they’ve developed throughout their journey together. Although this marks the end of the primary storyline, the Fast & Furious franchise is anticipated to carry on with some direct-to-streaming projects. One such project will feature Dwayne Johnson in a standalone role. This implies that while the main narrative may draw to a close, the Fast & Furious universe could potentially grow even larger.
