Fans React to Reports of Josh Brolin Being Cast as Hal Jordan in the DCU – “This can’t be serious. They can’t be serious”

As a long-time fan who has watched the evolution of superhero franchises since the dawn of time (or at least since the 90’s), I have to admit that I find this news about Josh Brolin potentially joining the DCU as Hal Jordan a bit perplexing. On one hand, Brolin is an exceptional actor who has brought some truly iconic characters to life on the big screen. His Thanos and Cable performances are undeniably memorable. However, the age factor is a significant concern.

There’s chatter that actor Josh Brolin might switch from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to the DC Universe. He is famous for his portrayal of Thanos across several MCU phases and as Cable in “Deadpool 2.” If true, this could mean a shift to the competing DC universe for Brolin.

Based on reports from various experts within the field, it’s rumored that Chris Brolin has been chosen to play the role of Hal Jordan in an upcoming “Lanterns” TV series. This show is set to center around three main Green Lantern characters: Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, and John Stewart.

The gossip aligns with previous speculation indicating that the producers aim to cast a mature actor for the role of Hal Jordan as a wise guide. While Brolin appears suitable for the part of a more experienced and aged Hal Jordan, fan opinions vary widely on this subject.

As a die-hard fan, I must say that the recent casting announcements for superhero roles have sparked quite the conversation among us enthusiasts. The reactions have ranged from wildly enthusiastic to downright skeptical, with opinions flying everywhere!

Better turn that role down. I don’t want an old Hal Jordan.

They bout to announce Sir Patrick Stewart as Shazam!

A highly skilled performer, yet potentially too aged for the role of Hal, particularly if the storyline intends to keep him active beyond the Lanterns saga.

It’s been tough to elicit mostly positive responses since many fans worry that Brolin might be too old for the character of Hal Jordan. Initial reports hinted that DC Studios was interested in white actors between 43 and 49 for Hal Jordan, an age range that was already pushing it for the role. Nevertheless, at 56, Brolon is notably older than this range.

Considering the fact that an older Hal Jordan might need to be phased out sooner due to potential acting limitations, and Chris Pratt (Brolin) may not sustain action roles for the next 10-15 years given his age, this casting decision could pose challenges in a long-term cinematic universe like the one Gunn is creating. In other words, there might be apprehensions about whether Brolin would be able to fulfill the role’s demands over such an extended period.
