Fans Favor Dafne Keen as the MCU’s Wolverine, but Opinions Are Divided: “Don’t make her play second fiddle”

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and avid fan of the X-Men universe, I must say that Dafne Keen’s portrayal of X-23 in “Deadpool & Wolverine” was nothing short of brilliant. The way she brought Laura to life, both as a troubled young woman and a fierce warrior, was truly captivating.

Approximately a week has passed since the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, and it’s already garnered both financial and artistic recognition. One significant factor contributing to its praise is the incorporation of numerous classic characters.

Distinguished performances include Garner’s Elektra, Evans’ Human Torch, and Snipes’ Blade. Among many guest roles, a surprising unveiling was Dafne Keen as X-23 from the 2017 movie “Logan”.

In just a single outing within the Fox X-Men universe, Keen’s portrayal of the character left such an impression that fans eagerly awaited any suggestion of her comeback. Despite numerous speculations about her participation in Deadpool & Wolverine over time, the actress skillfully maintained secrecy regarding her role.

In the movie, an older Laura appears, albeit with a minor role, yet she significantly contributes to motivating Wolverine to reach his peak potential.

Fans are requesting Dafne Keen to take over as the MCU’s Wolverine now that she has grown up, having played the role of X-23. Although Hugh Jackman returned for another portrayal of Wolverine, he is considered a variant character and it remains unclear if he will continue in this role due to his advanced age.

Casting Keen as Wolverine would address age-related concerns, ensuring longevity and compatibility with the “Young Avengers.” However, it would also perpetuate a controversial trend in the MCU of gender-swapping established characters with female variants, leading to significant disagreement among some fans.

Let the campaign for Dafne Keen to be the MCU Wolverine begin…

Yes, let’s change every main male character into their female counterpart. That’s the answer

Instead of focusing on why we can’t simply swap X-23 with Wolverine as if it were a routine adjustment, let’s discuss the underlying issue: The persistent tendency to reimagine established male characters as females in an attempt to boost box office performance, which often results in a less successful outcome.

Move forward with developing X-23, sure. But trying to change, arguably one of the most popular characters in all comic book history to be something else is a bad move. Wait, are you just trolling?

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, X-23 isn’t pulling her weight compared to Logan in terms of profits. If Marvel decides to focus less on Logan, they could be missing out on some serious cash. That would be quite the misstep, don’t you think?

It’s not a good suggestion, given that she’s already well-established as an individual. Let’s avoid making her take a supporting role to another character.
