Great news for fans of A Man on the Inside! As a big comedy lover, I was thrilled to hear Netflix has officially given the show the green light for a third season. It’s only been a little over two months since season two dropped on November 20th, 2025, so it’s awesome they’re keeping the momentum going.
I’m really enjoying this show created by Mike Schur! It stars Ted Danson as a retired guy, Charles, who unexpectedly becomes a private investigator. The second season was particularly clever – Charles went undercover at a college, Wheeler, to figure out who was blackmailing the president. And the cast is amazing! Along with Danson, you’ve got Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, Mary Steenburgen, and a bunch of other fantastic actors like Max Greenfield and Gary Cole – Michaela Conlin is great too. It’s just a really well-acted and engaging show.
Even though fewer people watched the second season compared to the first, Netflix has decided to renew the show for a third season. Season 2 attracted 9.8 million viewers right after it launched, and while it didn’t make the weekly Top 10 list for English shows, it received a very positive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix seems optimistic that the show’s good reviews and the talented team behind it – including creators Schur and Danson – will ensure its continued success.
“We’re incredibly excited to be making another season of A Man on the Inside with Netflix,” said Schur. “It’s a pleasure working with everyone, especially Ted Danson, who is a remarkably talented actor and a national treasure. His contract actually specifies the exact positive adjectives I’m allowed to use when talking about him in press releases!”
The series A Man on the Inside is inspired by the 2020 documentary The Mole Agent, directed by Maite Alberdi. Mike Schur, David Miner, Maite Alberdi, Marcela Santibañez, Julie Goldman, Christopher Clements, and Morgan Sackett all serve as executive producers. Universal Television is the studio behind the show.
Now that Season 3 is happening, viewers can look forward to more of Charles’s witty detective work and funny situations. Netflix’s choice proves that well-written shows with great actors and positive reviews can still succeed, even if viewership goes up and down – particularly when it comes to comedies.
