FACES OF DEATH Remake Film Sets April Release Date

When people talk about classic horror movies from the 70s and 80s, certain titles always come up – like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, and Friday the 13th. These films really defined the genre. However, some movies from that time are more famous for the trouble they caused than for being critically praised. Faces of Death (1978) is a prime example. It received negative reviews and was even banned in some countries because it included actual footage of deaths and was extremely graphic. Despite this, Faces of Death gained a dedicated following among some horror fans. Now, Shudder and IFC are reportedly working on a remake to introduce it to a new audience. We can’t share the teaser trailer here due to age restrictions, but you can view it at the provided link.

Legendary Pictures is releasing a remake of the controversial film Faces of Death in theaters within the next two months, according to Variety. Daniel Goldhaber and Isa Mazzei wrote the script, with Goldhaber directing. The new film will use modern technology to create a documentary-like feel, and stars Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Jermaine Fowler, and Charlie XCX.

The new Faces of Death movie builds on the original’s unsettling premise – making viewers question what’s real and what’s fake. The story follows a content moderator (Ferreira) for a large video platform who finds videos that seem to be recreations of murders from the first film. In a world full of online deception, she has to figure out if the violence she’s seeing is staged or actually happening live.

I’m really impressed with a lot of the new actors in this film. Grace Fowler was fantastic in The Blackening, and Montgomery really proved his talent playing Billy in Stranger Things. Plus, having Charlie XCX involved will definitely bring in viewers who don’t usually watch horror. We’ll find out what the Faces of Death remake is like when it’s released on April 10th.
