The Disney Lorcana trading card game has unquestionably swept the globe, recently revealing its ninth collection without a hint of slowing down. With an abundance of beloved Disney characters and realms to incorporate, it’s no wonder that the game has garnered such success. The upcoming ninth set for Disney Lorcana is named “Fabled,” and we’ve just received some exciting new details about it. Moreover, the eighth set, “Reign of Jafar,” continues to tantalize us with intriguing new visuals. So, let’s delve into the treasure trove of Disney Lorcana entertainment!
Disney Lorcana‘s Fabled Introduces A Goofy Movie and Iconic + Epic Cards
What an excellent title for the Disney Lorcana collection! The fortunate number nine, Fabled, is making its debut, and with it comes highly awaited cards as well as innovative, exciting gameplay features.
A Goofy Movie Arrives in Disney Lorcana
Which Disney Lorcana Fabled set character will we be sharing an adventure with? None other than Max and Goofy from “A Goofy Movie”, a classic that recently marked its 30th anniversary. Despite the passing years, this beloved film continues to capture hearts everywhere. And now, we’re thrilled about the prospect of seeing it join Disney Lorcana. We can’t say for sure which cards from “A Goofy Movie” will make an appearance in the deck, but just knowing it’s coming is enough to get us excited!

Iconic and Epic Rarities Join the TCG
Moreover, the new “Legendary” collection is set to present two unique types of rarities: Iconic and Epic. Disney Lorcana clarifies that these “Legendary” rarities signify special versions of characters that players can hunt for in each booster pack. Specifically, the game will include two rare Iconic cards per set, while Epic cards will appear more frequently than Enchanted cards and showcase unique artwork and special foil finishes. The charming duo of Mickey and Minnie gracefully riding a carousel are anticipated to be the first Iconic cards for avid collectors to pursue.
Rotating Cards for Competitions
Moreover, “Fabled” will make its debut by removing cards from being used legally in competitive players’ decks for the first time. The initial four sets will be taken out of the Core Constructed format, yet they will remain playable in a new format called Infinity Constructed. While fans can continue to enjoy their complete card collection, it’s crucial to maintain the excitement and freshness of competition.
Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer for Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger explains that to ensure the game remains engaging, they’re replacing older cards with new ones to foster innovative strategies and unique deck designs. However, they understand that certain cards from the initial sets are significant to many players’ strategic decks, and not everyone managed to get their preferred cards in the first year. To address this, they’re reissuing some cards from those early sets in the Fabled expansion, even including Enchanted versions of popular fan picks!
When Will Disney Lorcana‘s Fabled Release?
In simpler terms, the new expansion pack for the Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game, named Fabled, is scheduled to launch on September 5, 2025.
Disney Lorcana‘s Reign of Jafar
Before we delve into the thrilling tale, it’s important to note that the Disney Lorcana’s Reign of Jafar collection hasn’t quite left the stage yet. As its title suggests, this exquisite set primarily focuses on the malevolent majesty of the villain, Jafar. However, fear not, our cherished heroes make an appearance in the set as well. We can’t simply let Jafar reign unchallenged, after all.

In the official description, it states that Jafar currently holds the Hexwell Crown and has twisted Archazia’s Island to his dark intentions. Abundant traps and illusions characterize the game Reign of Jafar, and Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber must unite to reclaim the crown and vanquish the nefarious vizier. Illumineers’ Quest: Palace Heist is a fresh cooperative board game experience designed for up to 4 players who will face off against Jafar and his minions. Pre-release events in game stores and Disney store locations for Reign of Jafar begin on May 30th, while the packs will be available everywhere starting June 6th.

Coming Soon to Disney Lorcana‘s World: Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck
Beyond what’s already been mentioned about Disney Lorcana, there are more exciting developments on the horizon! The game is hinting at an intriguing tenth collection named “Whispers in the Well,” set to debut at the end of 2025. A sneak peek at the key art suggests Mickey Mouse, Ariel, and perhaps even Disney’s Gargoyles might be joining the world of Disney Lorcana. While no confirmation has been given, the hint is certainly suggestive. Additionally, we can expect a new kind of Glimmer in “Whispers in the Well.
It’s been eagerly anticipated by fans, but Darkwing Duck will eventually make his way into the Disney Lorcana universe. However, you’ll have to wait until 2026 for his arrival. We can hardly wait to welcome him when he finally gets here!
