Apple TV Plus is growing its collection of movies, offering both brand new hits and classic holiday favorites that draw in viewers from around the world. The platform has become especially popular during the holidays, as people seek out family-friendly entertainment and exciting dramas. Currently, the most-watched movies on the service range from big-budget action sequels to cherished animated specials. Here’s a look at the titles topping the streaming charts this December.
‘It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown’ (1992)

As a long-time fan, I always look forward to revisiting the Peanuts gang, and this animated special doesn’t disappoint. It’s a collection of charming holiday scenes – we see Charlie Brown trying to make a little money selling wreaths, and Peppermint Patty stressing over a school report. What I appreciate is that, even with all the fun, it gently touches on what the holidays really mean, contrasting it with all the commercial stuff. It’s a classic for a reason, and a perfect, comforting watch for families every winter – it just feels like home.
‘The Family Plan’ (2023)

Mark Wahlberg plays a retired government hitman trying to live a normal life as a dad and car salesman. But when his dangerous past resurfaces, he’s forced to take his family on a cross-country trip to keep them safe. The movie mixes thrilling action with funny family moments as he struggles to hide who he really is. It quickly became a big hit for the streaming service when it was released.
‘The Gorge’ (2025)

This exciting movie blends action, romance, and mystery. It centers on two talented fighters who are stationed on opposing sides of a treacherous canyon. When a deadly, ancient force awakens within the canyon, they’re forced to team up to survive. The film is packed with impressive stunts and a compelling story that will keep you guessing. Thanks to its high quality and original concept, it’s become one of the streaming service’s biggest successes this year.
‘Highest 2 Lowest’ (2025)

This fascinating film explores how a highly competitive industry is changing, told through the stories of the people at the heart of it. It shows the challenges of staying on top and the dangers of falling behind, and takes a close look at the personal sacrifices and difficult choices people make when everything is on the line. Audiences have connected with the film because it honestly depicts both the drive to succeed and the ability to bounce back from setbacks.
‘The Lost Bus’ (2025)

This intense drama, starring Matthew McConaughey, is based on the true story of the tragic Camp Fire in California. It follows a bus driver and a teacher as they bravely guide their students through the flames to safety. The film powerfully portrays the courage of everyday people during this terrible disaster and has been praised for its realistic characters and moving story.
‘Spirited’ (2022)

I absolutely love this movie! It’s a really fun, modern take on ‘A Christmas Carol’ with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell – they’re hilarious. The story follows the Ghost of Christmas Present, but this time, he picks someone who seems completely beyond saving, and we get to watch him try to turn things around. It’s full of amazing dance numbers and original songs, and it puts a really funny spin on the classic Christmas story. It’s become a yearly tradition for me – I always stream it and I know tons of other people do too!
‘Snoopy Presents: For Auld Lang Syne’ (2021)

After a less-than-ideal Christmas, Lucy Van Pelt is determined to host an amazing New Year’s Eve party. At the same time, Charlie Brown is finding it hard to even stick to one New Year’s resolution. This special highlights the value of friendship and reflects on the year’s lessons, offering a warm and satisfying end to the holiday season for viewers of all ages.
‘The Family Plan 2’ (2025)

Okay, so the Morgans are back, and things immediately go crazy again! Basically, their normal suburban life gets flipped upside down by international espionage – again! What I really loved is that the sequel builds on the fun dynamic we saw in the first movie with the whole family. They’ve thrown in some new villains and really cool locations this time around. It’s a wild ride with a lot of action and funny moments, but at its heart, it’s really about how this family sticks together even when everything is chaotic. Everyone was so excited for this one, and it definitely shows – the numbers are huge since it came out!
‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ (1965)

A Charlie Brown Christmas is a beloved holiday classic that follows Charlie Brown’s quest to discover the real spirit of Christmas, which seems lost in all the shopping and commercialism. He takes on the challenge of directing a Christmas play and chooses a sad, little Christmas tree, hoping to bring it some cheer. With its memorable jazz music by Vince Guaraldi, this special has become a tradition for many families, and continues to be enjoyed by new audiences year after year.
‘F1’ (2025)

Starring Brad Pitt, this thrilling sports movie follows a seasoned race car driver who comes out of retirement to coach a promising newcomer. Made with help from real Formula 1 teams, the film delivers a realistic and immersive racing experience. With stunning visuals, it puts you right in the action and has quickly become one of the year’s biggest streaming hits.
