Great news for Formula 1 fans! A sequel to the racing movie F1 is officially happening, promising more fast-paced action. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently confirmed they’ve started working on the story and are hoping to collaborate with Lewis Hamilton again, getting his input on the new film’s direction. This comes after rumors of a follow-up began circulating shortly after the first movie’s release. Bruckheimer shared that they’re pitching ideas to Hamilton to ensure his continued involvement.
Details about the plot are still under wraps, but rumors are swirling about whether original cast members will return. Brad Pitt starred in the first film as Sonny Hayes, a once-promising race car driver attempting a comeback after years away from the sport. When questioned about Pitt potentially reprising his role, producer Jerry Bruckheimer remained coy, simply saying, “We’ll see.” This secrecy has only increased fan anticipation.
The first film featured Hayes teaming up with up-and-coming driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), guided by team owner Rubén Cervantes (Javier Bardem). A key aspect of the production was its commitment to realism, with scenes filmed during actual Grand Prix events at various international race tracks. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick, the film was released on June 27, 2025.
