EXCLUSIVE: ‘I Need All Of Them’; Michelle Yeoh Shares Why She Would Take Home All Her Madame Morrible Costumes From Wicked

As a dedicated fan and fortunate enough to have witnessed Michelle Yeoh grace our screens as the enchanting Madame Morrible in Wicked, I can confidently say that her portrayal of this iconic character has left an indelible mark on me. The intricate details, exquisite embroidery, and captivating designs of every costume she wore were nothing short of breathtaking.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share my own feelings about the captivating costumes I donned while portraying Madame Morrible in Wicked. In an engaging conversation with TopMob, I expressed my admiration for the intricate designs that our team meticulously crafted for the mesmerizing world of Oz. To single out one piece from the set proved almost impossible given the exquisite detail that went into each and every costume I wore.

Immediately upon being queried about what she’d like to keep as a memento from the Wicked film sets, Yeoh quickly indicated towards Madame Morrible’s memorable on-screen look.

Yeoh was quick to mention one specific scene that stood out to her: Madame Morrible’s first appearance at Shiz University. “Maybe I am biased,” she began, “but I think it has to be the moment Madame Morrible first steps into the university. It’s like waters, gondolas, all the amazing students in their crazy uniforms, and the professors.”

When queried about her outfit at that particular time, Yeoh expressed her appreciation for the skillful workmanship involved in creating Madame Morrible’s character. “The embroidery and the intricate details were stunning. You see, Madame Morrible had numerous fantastic costume transformations. It’s tough to pick just one. I almost need them all.

She found that each costume brought a unique element to the character, making it challenging to choose a favorite. The idea of keeping just one item seemed implausible, as every costume possessed its own distinct appeal.

In this production, Yeoh assumes the role of Madame Morrible, the principal of Crage Hall at Shiz University. She shares the stage with Ariana Grande portraying Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, and Peter Dinklage playing Dr. Dillamond.

This year, one of the highly awaited cinema releases is the film version of Wicked. It’s scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 22, 2024.
