In my opinion, I’ve found myself deeply appreciating the exceptional craftsmanship of the second and conclusive season of “Andor” on Disney+. It’s not merely the greatest Star Wars series ever produced; it ranks among the best shows in any genre ever created. The prequel serves as a touching and profound farewell to its central rebel character, setting him on his fateful path from “Andor” to his role in “Rogue One.” However, Ewan McGregor, who portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi, seems to feel differently. He didn’t dislike the show’s finale; rather, he laments that it had to end at all. After catching up on “Andor,” he has expressed his desire for Disney to produce a third season so he can reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the series.
At Fan Expo Canada, as I gleefully discovered via IGN, I had the pleasure of expressing my admiration for Andor – a series that sadly concluded its run. As a fellow movie enthusiast, I often find myself late to the party when it comes to recommended shows. But while making up for lost time with Andor, I couldn’t help but harbor hope that Master Obi-Wan Kenobi might grace our screens in a potential third season of Star Wars, given its storyline taking place just prior to A New Hope. However, my excitement was quickly dashed when I realized the unfortunate truth – Obi-Wan would likely not be making an appearance there.
Unfortunately, for all of us – fans and iconic Jedi alike – the popular series “Andor” has come to an end and currently does not have plans for a season three. However, much like in the Star Wars universe, Ewan McGregor remains hopeful. He suggested that there might be a possibility of another story running concurrently that could potentially intersect with the existing narrative. So, if Disney is open to it – hypothetically speaking, of course – there’s always a chance for more adventures. Come on, Disney!
It’s possible that he is correct, but a crossover between Andor and any other show, such as a hypothetical third season of Andor, wouldn’t typically occur without some significant changes. For instance, if Lucasfilm were to alter the storyline of Rogue One to include Obi-Wan Kenobi using the Force to save Cassian from the Death Star blast and then continue his story in the subsequent season of Andor, a crossover could potentially take place. However, this would involve a significant change to the established timeline and story arc of both Rogue One and Andor.
Hey there…, just hold on for a moment…not to change things, Cassian Andor’s tale has a flawless conclusion. Perhaps another time, it could be Old Ben Kenobi who catches up on the finest Star Wars series around.
