Ewan McGregor Again Rumored To Return As Obi-Wan In Ahsoka Season 2

There’s a new report claiming Ewan McGregor might reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the second season of Ahsoka.

Rumors started after the Star Wars fan site Bespin Bulletin found a series of online posts seemingly made by a stunt person working on the show.

I’ve been digging through fan comments, and one really stood out. It seems to hint that Ewan McGregor was actually on set – which, as you can imagine, has everyone buzzing!

Stuntman Comment Sparks Obi-Wan Speculation

The stunt performer shared that while filming Star Wars, getting to operate an AT-AT was a highlight. They also loved working with the Imperial Star Destroyers and fondly remembered when Ewan McGregor let them hold Ahsoka’s lightsaber – a truly special moment for them.

When the name “Ewan” came up, fans immediately wondered if actor Ewan McGregor had been on set, perhaps returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi for the second season of Ahsoka.

If it did happen, the appearance would probably be short and connected to a Force-related event, like a vision or flashback. This is because Obi-Wan Kenobi died many years before the events of the Ahsoka series.

It’s worth noting that Ewan McGregor’s wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, plays a role in the show Ahsoka, so he may have been visiting the set to support her. Fans speculated about this back in August, and McGregor confirmed he was there because of his wife’s involvement in the series.

Obi-Wan And Ahsoka Share Anakin Connection

From a storytelling point of view, bringing back Obi-Wan would also fit well. He and Ahsoka both have a strong connection because of their shared history with Anakin Skywalker.

The first season of Ahsoka featured a return by Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, appearing in a puzzling scene set within the World Between Worlds. This allowed the series to explore events from the Clone Wars period again.

Christensen has also been confirmed for Season 2.

As a film fan, I think bringing Obi-Wan back into the story is a brilliant move. It really lets us dig deeper into Anakin’s history by showing us how the people he was closest to shaped him – and how he impacted them, too. It’s a way of understanding him on a much more personal level.

Ahsoka Season 2 is due to premiere later this year on Disney+.
