Everything We Know So Far About SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comic book-based gaming under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for DC Studios’ upcoming film, “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”. Having grown up with Supergirl as a staple in my action-packed gaming roster, the prospect of seeing her grace the silver screen is nothing short of exhilarating.

Next year, James Gunn’s new DC Universe will debut in cinemas worldwide with the premiere of Superman. However, following closely after that, Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, is set to make her big screen debut as well, marking her first feature film appearance in over 40 years. Here’s what we currently know about DC Studios’ upcoming movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Title

Similar to the comic book from where it originates, the movie’s title is “Supergirl: The Women of Tomorrow.” This will be the second film in James Gunn’s initial phase of his new DC Universe, entitled “Gods and Monsters.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Plot

The upcoming film draws inspiration from the 2021-2022 comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely titled “Batman.” This movie promises an epic space odyssey. On her 21st birthday, Kara Zor-El, Superman’s youthful cousin, embarks on a cosmic voyage. Along for the ride is Krypto the Superdog. During her travels, Kara encounters a young extraterrestrial girl named Ruthye who seeks Kara’s aid in avenging the murder of her family by a notorious figure called Krem from the Yellow Hills. Unlike Kal-El, who arrived on Earth as an infant, this portrayal of Kara has been hardened by the destruction of her home planet at age 14, shaping her worldview ever since.

Behind-The-Scenes

The upcoming film titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is helmed by director Craig Gillespie, who has previously worked on movies like “I, Tonya” and “Cruella“. The script for this project is penned by Ana Nogueira, a writer known not only for her screenplays but also for her work on the TV series “The Vampire Diaries” on the CW. The DC Studios co-heads, James Gunn and Peter Safran, are producing this film. As for Nogueira, Gunn commented that “Ana is an exceptional writer whose adaptation of ‘Woman of Tomorrow‘ exceeded all my expectations.

Later on, he expressed (through The Hollywood Reporter) “Anna Nogueira walked in and pitched the Supergirl story to me, and it was one of the best pitches I’ve ever encountered. She wrote it right away, and it was fantastic from the start. It has continued to improve since then. Additionally, Craig Gillespie has been a delight to collaborate with, and I eagerly anticipate its release.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Cast

Titled “Woman of Tomorrow’s Crown” goes to Milly Alcock, star from “House of the Dragon.” In case you missed it, she portrayed the younger version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the show’s initial season. Sharing the screen with her is Matthias Schoenaerts, a renowned Belgian actor who made waves in Netflix’s “The Old Guard.” In this upcoming project, he takes on the role of Krem of the Yellow Hills, the film’s adversary. While unverified, we speculate that David Corenswet might appear in a minor role as Kara’s cousin, Superman.
