Series like the quirky comedy Twisted Metal and the emotionally powerful The Last of Us have proven successful, likely because they already have dedicated fans. Now, Prime Video is joining the trend with God of War, and they’ve already ordered two seasons! Details about the cast and storyline are still coming, and we’ll learn more in the months ahead.

Here’s everything we know about Prime Video’s God of War TV series so far. 

Title

For now, the title appears to be God of War. 

God of War’s Plot 

This series will adapt the story of Kratos starting with the 2018 God of War game. Here’s the official logline for God of War to deliver a bit more clarity: 

In God of War, Kratos and his son Atreus travel together to scatter the ashes of a loved one, Faye. Throughout their journey, Kratos attempts to guide Atreus in becoming a strong god, while Atreus tries to help Kratos reconnect with his humanity.

Behind-the-Scenes 

Frederick E.O. Toye is directing the first two episodes of the upcoming God of War series, which is currently being prepared for production as of December 2025. Originally, Rafe Judkins was set to lead the show when it was approved in 2022, but Ronald D. Moore has since taken over as showrunner.
