Everything We Know About IT: WELCOME TO DERRY

As a die-hard fan of Stephen King’s IT and a connoisseur of horror stories that send chills down my spine, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming prequel series, IT: Welcome to Derry. Having grown up with Tim Curry’s Pennywise haunting my nightmares, I’m thrilled to see Bill Skarsgård bring his own terrifying twist to the character in this new era of terror.

In modern horror circles, Pennywise is once again causing chills among viewers, this time due to the more recent IT films directed by Andy Muschietti. Just like many typical small towns, Derry has an eerie atmosphere, with a dancing clown who entices children towards ominous and shadowy locations. Fast forward to the past, as we delve into IT: Welcome to Derry, a prequel television series set to premiere on Max in 2025.

Here’s everything we know about IT: Welcome to Derry so far.

Currently, there’s no detailed summary available for this series, but we do know it will be set in the 1960s and explore the origins of Derry’s curse. A few short previews have been released featuring a group of children, which is not surprising. In one scene, a girl asks a boy about what he witnessed, to which he responds “a clown.” It appears something drags him into what seems like lake water, and the last shot shows one child screaming with a bloodied face.

Behind the Scenes

In simple terms, Andy Muschitti, along with Barbara Muschietti, Jason Fuchs, and Bill Skarsgård, will serve as executive producers for the nine-episode series, with Andy also directing several episodes, starting with the first one.

IT: Welcome to Derry’s Cast

Besides Skarsgård, the cast consists of Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, with Madeleine Stowe appearing frequently as a recurring guest star, and Stephen Rider taking on a more permanent role as a series regular.
