As a die-hard fan of the Dune universe, I am beyond excited about the upcoming series, Dune: Prophecy! The prospect of delving deeper into this rich, intricate world is simply tantalizing.
Apart from the second movie in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise, another addition set in the world of Dune is approaching. Warner Media, in collaboration with Legendary Television, is developing a TV series called “Dune: Prophecy.” This series will be a prequel to the films and delve into the lives of the Harkonnen Sisters, who are instrumental in forming the enigmatic order of the Bene Gesserit. Interestingly, Villeneuve himself will be an executive producer for this project.
Here’s everything we know about Dune: Prophecy so far.
Title
As a passionate fan, I was initially thrilled about the title for the Dune series being Dune: Prophecy. But, as per IGN’s report, it seems that the series has undergone a change and is now known as Dune: Prophecy – an exciting shift that keeps me on the edge of my seat!
Dune: Prophecy‘s Plot
Details regarding the plot of “Dune: Prophecy” remain unclear, but it’s been confirmed that it will function as a prequel to the events depicted in both “Dune: Part One” and “Dune: Part Two.” A logline for the series offers additional insights into what we might anticipate.
10,000 years prior to Paul Atreides’ rise, the story ‘DUNE: PROPHECY‘ unfolds, focusing on two Harkonnen sisters who struggle against forces that jeopardize humanity’s future and found the mysterious order known as the Bene Gesserit. This tale reveals the Sisterhood’s origins during one of the most tumultuous and crucial periods in the history of the Dune universe.
Behind the Scenes
In the effort to strengthen the link between the Dune series and movies, Denis Villeneuve has taken on the role of an executive producer for the upcoming show, titled Dune: Prophecy. Simultaneously, Alison Schapker assumes the position of both showrunner and executive producer for the series. Previously, Schapker worked as an executive producer on the popular series Westworld, and also contributed to Netflix’s Altered Carbon and other shows like Fringe, Lost, and Almost Human. Furthermore, Warner Media announced that “Diane Ademu-John serves as the creator, writer, and executive producer.
According to a release:
The award-nominated writer Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Mark Friedman, and Matthew King are set to executive produce a series, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert representing the Frank Herbert estate, and Kevin J. Anderson co-producing. This production is jointly brought to you by HBO Max and Legendary Television, with Legendary also producing the film series that was well-received upon its initial release in October 2021, earning six Academy Awards, including nominations for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
