A thriller released eight years ago is unexpectedly gaining huge popularity on Netflix this week, becoming one of their most-watched movies.
According to data from FlixPatrol, the series Absentia, which first appeared on Amazon Prime Video and AXN, has unexpectedly become one of the top three most-watched TV shows worldwide on Netflix, despite finishing its run several years ago.

The series originally aired from 2017 to 2021, lasting three seasons before it was cancelled. Stana Katic plays the lead role of FBI agent Emily Byrne.
While investigating a serial killer, she vanishes, only to reappear years later with no recollection of what happened. Returning home, she finds everything has changed, and she’s soon embroiled in a new series of crimes that add to her struggles.
When the series initially launched, reviews were fairly divided. Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a 50% rating, and Metacritic scores were generally average. However, the story of an agent attempting to start over is now gaining popularity after becoming available on Netflix.
The show is gaining a lot of new fans, and people who didn’t see it when it first aired are now discovering it. With all three seasons now available, many are watching the entire mystery series back-to-back.
