Even though Critical Role Campaign 4 is still getting started, it’s already delivered plenty of exciting fights and powerful emotional scenes. The entire campaign revolves around a significant death that brings the characters together, hinting at even more dramatic events to come. Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Game Master, has warned us that the world of Aramán in Campaign 4 isn’t a just place – fairness is rare, and danger is constant. This means characters can die unexpectedly and with real impact. To help you follow the story, here’s a list of all the deaths that have happened so far in Critical Role Campaign 4.

Thajazi Fang’s Death Kickstarts the Whole Critical Role Campaign 4 Death

As we’ve discussed, the death of Thajazi Fang is central to the story of Critical Role Campaign 4. Each of our characters had some kind of connection to him – whether as a friend, a fellow soldier, or a business contact. Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t save him from being executed. Now, the campaign focuses on figuring out why Thajazi had to die, what went wrong with the attempt to save him, and what secrets he was involved with before his death.
Critical Role Campaign 4, Episode Three Deaths
Sir Julien Davinos Watches His Father, General Raimond Davinos, Die

We didn’t get much time with General Raimond Davinos, but his impact was clear! Matt Mercer’s character, Sir Julien Davinos, was a classic brooding and rebellious figure – someone with a lot of attitude and a troubled past. Naturally, this included some complicated feelings about his father. Though we only saw a few scenes between them, it was obvious their relationship was tense. Julien struggled to understand his father’s devotion to Thajazi Fang, and Raimond was clearly let down and even embarrassed by his son’s actions.
Before we could explore the relationship between the father and son, General Raimond Davinos was unexpectedly killed by Lord Primus Tachonis. In a sudden attack on Houses Royce and Davinos, Tachonis reached into Davinos and violently pulled out his brain and spinal cord, resulting in immediate death.
Critical Role Campaign 4, Episode Four Deaths
Alex Ward’s Occtis Tachonis Meets His Death in Critical Role Campaign 4, Episode 4 (But Comes Back to Life)

A major character, Occtis Tachonis, played by Alex Ward, dies in episode four of Critical Role Campaign 3. The death happens quickly and brutally at the hands of his own brother, Ethrand Tachonis. During an attack on Houses Royce and Davinos, the Tachonis family specifically targets Occtis, believing he betrayed them by helping to rescue Thajazi Fang. Ethrand pins Occtis down and fatally stabs him. He then removes Occtis’ heart and replaces it with the Stone of Nightsong, which the Tachonis family had taken from Thajazi Fang’s hideout.
Unlike Raimond Davinos, Occtis Tachonis doesn’t die instantly. Instead, he finds himself in a strange, in-between place – a path through a forest – where he’s being pulled in two directions. Thaisha Lloy is trying to bring him back to life, while his father and family are drawing him towards a darker fate. In this space, he removes the Stone of Nightsong from within himself, and his soul almost disappears. For a moment, it seems like Alex Ward’s portrayal of Occtis Tachonis in Critical Role Campaign 4 was tragically cut short by death.
Occtis Comes Back From Death with the Help of Murray, Bolaire, and the Stone of Nightsong
Okay, so things weren’t a total loss! The group – Bolaire, Murray, Azune, and Hal – actually managed to put the dark candle back together, the one the Tachonis House used to mess with the barrier between the living world and Aramán. It seemed to help fix some of the damage. Plus, Thaisha was able to heal a lot of Occtis’s injuries, though he wasn’t fully recovered. But the really incredible part? When they saw Occtis seemingly gone, Marisha and Sam – playing Murray and Bolaire – pulled off something amazing. They somehow reversed the flow of the river of death itself, bringing Occtis back to us. It was a seriously powerful moment!
Using her unique abilities, Murray, along with Bolaire’s incredibly lucky roll, managed to fix the terrible thing that happened to Occtis. As the game master, Brennan Lee Mulligan, explained, sometimes events are so powerful they seem to reverse time. Thanks to the Stone of Night Song, Occtis is brought back, though he isn’t exactly alive. While his body is technically deceased, Alex Ward will continue playing the character. It’s a relief! What Occtis is now will be revealed as Critical Role Campaign 4 continues.
Poor Pin, the Fox, Also Died!

Poor Pin, the undead fox, sadly died when her master – the one whose magic kept her going – passed away. Luckily, when Occtis was revived, Pin came back to life too! It wasn’t pretty – she literally burst out of him – but everyone was happy she was back!
More Deaths Are Sure to Come on Critical Role Campaign 4
As a huge fan of Critical Role Campaign 4, I have a really bad feeling about those recent deaths. It feels like they’re just the start of a lot more trouble. With the world being so chaotic and dangerous right now, and enemies lurking everywhere, I’m genuinely worried for the safety of the whole party and everyone they care about.
