Every Major Character Death in THE RINGS OF POWER Season 2

As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours immersed in Tolkien’s Middle-earth lore, I must say that The Rings of Power season 2 has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions! From the heart-wrenching deaths of beloved characters to the thrilling unfolding of new tales, this show never fails to keep me on the edge of my seat.

The TV series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is set during Middle-earth’s Second Age, as described by Tolkien in books like “The Silmarillion.” This means that people who are familiar with “The Lord of the Rings” have a good idea about what might happen to certain characters. However, adaptations sometimes alter the story when necessary, and “The Rings of Power” has introduced many new original characters. These additions have left fans eagerly speculating about their fates. Since it’s an epic fantasy, there will likely be character deaths in a single season. For those who are curious about such events, we’ll keep track of the major character deaths from “The Rings of Power” season two here.

Here’s who faded away in season two.

The Rings of Power Season 2, Episodes 1-3 Deaths

Sauron’s Post-Morgoth Form “Dies”

In the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Adar informs Galadriel that he was responsible for Sauron’s death. This claim is later supported by the events in the opening scene of season two, where we witness a form of Sauron’s demise. Portrayed by Jack Lowden, Sauron seeks power following Morgoth’s defeat. However, Adar and the Orcs, who have long suffered under Sauron’s tyranny, have other plans for him. Rather than crown Sauron, Adar strikes him down with his own helm, inciting a riot among the gathered Orcs at the coronation ceremony. After repeated blows from the Orc masses, Sauron dramatically self-destructs, leaving behind a frozen tomb.

Absolutely, Sauron, being a Maia, is far more difficult to destroy permanently, and his evil essence endures. In the subsequent episode, this dark essence resurfaced, taking on the shape of Charlie Vickers that we recognize today as Sauron. However, in a way, one manifestation of Sauron did meet its demise. Well done, Adar!

Waldreg Meets His Death at the Hands of Sauron

Poor Waldreg, who had been eager to serve Sauron, chose instead to remain faithful to his father, Adar. Loyal as ever, Waldreg was a devoted servant. Regrettably, in the first episode of season two of “The Rings of Power”, he met his demise at the hands of Sauron.

In The Rings of Power’s first episode, Waldreg was responsible for tormenting a prisoner believed to be the King of the Southlands, Halbrand. However, Halbrand was actually Sauron in disguise. Waldreg didn’t realize this and took his task quite seriously, inflicting pain and ridicule on the captive. Little did he know that he was angering the Dark Lord. Using his immense powers, Sauron controlled a Warg kept in the cell. After getting Adar to release him, Sauron left a chilling message for Waldreg. The Warg, following Sauron’s commands, attacked Waldreg after Sauron had departed, likely causing his gruesome death. All of this amused Sauron greatly.

The Rings of Power Confirms Bronwyn Died From Her Season One Wounds

Unfortunately, we’d anticipated this turn of events ever since Nazanin Boniadi, who played Bronwyn in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, revealed she was leaving the show. Yet, it was still a painful blow when episode three of season two confirmed that Bronwyn had indeed perished within the series’ universe. Arondir lamented that despite seeming recovery from her injuries in season one, the arrow that struck Bronwyn carried a slow-working poison which ultimately led to her demise.

In the first season of The Rings of Power, it appeared that Bronwyn and Arondir were destined for a joyful conclusion, but unfortunately, their story took a tragic turn. As we move into season three, we witness Bronwyn’s funeral pyre being lit, marking her passing in a poignantly sorrowful manner. This scene sets the stage for a new narrative for those who knew and loved Bronwyn. Instead of a love tale, Arondir will now have to face his grief. The death of Bronwyn on The Rings of Power leaves a significant void in the relationship between her son Theo and the elven archer. We’ll watch as they try to mend their bond and find a way to cope with this loss together.

Many More Deaths Are Likely on Season 2 of The Rings of Power

In the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, it’s apparent that wickedness is escalating. Given that even immortal beings pay a heavy price in war, it seems probable that there will be numerous deaths before the season ends – both on the side of good and evil. Let’s only hope Sauron doesn’t target any beloved characters of ours.
