As someone who has followed Eva Mendes’ career and personal life for quite some time now, it is truly heartwarming to witness such beautiful moments shared between her and Ryan Gosling. The way they celebrate each other’s achievements, especially when they pay homage to Mendes’ Cuban heritage, is a testament to their deep respect and admiration for one another.
Eva Mendes is talking about her preferred Saturday Night Live comedy bits. Recently, she was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss her new children’s book titled “Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries.
On Wednesday, September 18th, Mendes was asked to share her preferred SNL skits featuring her partner Gosling, who had previously hosted the show on April 13th.
In the “Can’t Tonight” sketch, the performer who plays Barbie drew inspiration from his Cuban father, Juan Carlos Mendez. This character then attempts to mimic a Cuban accent in the sketch, complete with a curly wig, while socializing at a bar with friends Marcello Hernández and Kenan Thompson.
Mendes shared that it’s peculiar how Cuban Papa, though familiar with some English, doesn’t actually use the language. It’s evident he doesn’t speak English, having resided in the country for roughly half a century.
In a similar vein, when he’s with Ryan, it’s like an excited “Ah!” from him. My little one! Oh, yes, absolutely! Hello! He becomes that! She repeated, echoing their interaction. Mendes summarized, stating, “And that’s all. So, after around 12 years? It was worth the wait.
At the time when Gosling’s performance on Saturday Night Live was aired, Mendes (who is from Miami and has Cuban heritage) expressed her appreciation for it on Instagram by saying, “My fellow Cuban made this Cuban woman incredibly joyful with this.
The pair who worked on the 2012 movie “The Place Beyond the Pines” together, have two girls: Amada Lee (aged 7) and Esmeralda Amada (aged 9). They’ve kept their relationship under wraps over the years, but they’ve found crafty methods to support each other. Ryan Gosling’s heartwarming Instagram post following his “I’m Just Ken” Oscars performance earlier this year is an example of one such instance where they publicly acknowledged their connection.
