Eva Mendes Defends Herself After Accusations of Complaining About Fame

As a long-time follower of Eva Mendes‘ career and personal life, I have always admired her for maintaining a balance between her public persona and private family life. Her decision to keep her daughters away from the limelight is commendable, especially in today’s era where every detail of a celebrity’s life is scrutinized under a microscope.

Eva Mendes has been a public figure for quite some time now, initially as an actress and later due to her marriage to one of Hollywood’s heartthrobs, Ryan Gosling. However, they have consistently managed to keep their relationship and their two daughters, Amanda (8) and Esmeralda (9), out of the glare of the media and the internet frenzy. Their romance blossomed on the set of the 2012 film “The Place Beyond the Pines” where they first met.

More recently, during a social media conversation, Eva expressed appreciation towards the paparazzi at the Paris Olympics for obscuring her daughters’ faces in photos. This follows her statement last year that her daughters are not allowed internet usage. Yet, her show of gratitude sparked criticism among online users who perceived it as complaining about fame. In response, the actress-entrepreneur has defended herself against these accusations.

On Wednesday, Eva Mendes posted a selfie on Instagram expressing her gratitude towards the paparazzi for maintaining privacy regarding their daughters while they attended the Olympics in Paris as a family with Ryan Gosling. She expressed, “As soon as I spot photographers when I’m out and about, my defenses immediately rise.”

The Ghost Rider actress expressed her appreciation in a caption, saying, “I appreciated @nbcolympics for not cutting away from the kids! Many sites pixelated their faces, making me as a mother content. Overall, it was great to be there and feel connected with others.” She also showed her heartfelt gratitude in another comment.

When people began criticizing Eva for supposedly complaining about her fame, instead of replying, she retaliated against one user with a comment that read, “I’m not saying I don’t accept it – I’m just putting up a shield. And I’m okay with that. I prefer to stay out of the spotlight. But on my page, I can let my guard down.” She also wrote to another user, “I’m not complaining – but as soon as cameras are around, I feel like I shut down and get cold. Unless I’m at work, of course.”

Last year, I stood firm on my decision to keep Amanda and Esmeralda offline. Posting a video where I shake my head in disbelief, I penned a caption that read, “When the kids inquire about their age-appropriateness for the internet, social media, or anything needing WiFi.” On that occasion, I also shed light on some of my parenting methods.

When someone inquired about her kids using the internet, the actress admitted she wasn’t aware of the question. She explained that she’s approaching this matter cautiously, planning to understand first how the internet influences a child’s mind before making any decisions about giving them access.

In her recent comment, Eva Mendes expressed concerns about the potential risks of the internet for her daughters, likening it to activities such as driving or voting which are not suitable for children. She has chosen to restrict internet access at home and also abstains from sharing photos of her kids on personal social media platforms.
