Take a peek at a sneak preview of Dafne Keen in the forthcoming horror film titled “Whistle,” directed by Corin Hardy, who is also known for “The Nun.” The rights to this movie have recently been bought by Independent Film Company and Shudder.
The Plot
In the movie “Whistle”, an unlikely band of teenagers from high school accidentally find a haunted Aztec Death Whistle. They learn that when they blow this whistle, a chilling sound is produced which calls forth their impending deaths to pursue them. As the number of victims increases, the friends embark on a desperate mission to uncover the history behind this lethal trinket, in hopes of halting the dreadful sequence of events they have unwittingly initiated.
The Cast and Creative Team
With Dafne Keen, the cast consists of Sophie Nélisse (known for “Yellowjackets”), Sky Yang (from “Rebel Moon”), Percy Hynes White (previously seen in “My Old Ass”), and Nick Frost, famed for his role in “Shaun of the Dead”.
The movie was penned by Owen Egerton, who also served as the inspiration for its narrative, and it’s being brought to life by producers David Gross, Jesse Shapira, and Macdara Kelleher.
Theatrical Release Incoming
After the impressive box office performance of “Clown in a Cornfield”, Independent Film Company and Shudder are set to expand the U.S. theatrical distribution for the movie titled “Whistle“.
The director, Corin Hardy, mentioned that the film is designed specifically for cinema screenings, and it draws upon traditional horror vibes by featuring captivating, inventive deaths on-screen.
Hardy remarked, “The whistle reminds me of the raw, rebellious essence from my beloved genre films I grew up watching. The allure of the ‘Death Whistle’ lay in its intriguing mythology and how it allowed me to concoct a range of thrilling, creative, and chilling deaths. This movie is designed for the big-screen adventure, so I’m eagerly anticipating audiences joining us in blowing the whistle with Independent Film Company and Shudder at the cinemas!
Distribution and Industry Response
Adam Koehler from the Independent Film Company described Hardy’s work as a “gruesome and gory spectacle” and commended it for standing out amongst notable horror movies of late.
Koehler expressed his delight, stating, “Corin Hardy is truly exceptional at what he does, and we can’t wait to share this chilling creation with moviegoers nationwide.” With the film Whistle, he has crafted a gruesome and gory spectacle that promises to stand out among the most terrifying and successful horror films in recent cinema history.
The acquisition was handled by Koehler and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.
What’s next for Dafne Keen?
Dafne Keen is also starring in the horror movie, Night Comes.
She’s additionally featured in the movie titled “The Marshmallow Experiment“, which portrays Sam McCarthy as Alex – a teenager struggling with social awkwardness and an overpowering compulsion towards online pornography, a struggle that, surprisingly, seems insufficient.
As a movie connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share the rumor that Dafne Keen, who stole our hearts as Laura/X-23 in Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine, might reprise her role in upcoming epics such as Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars.
