‘Eragon’ Disney Live-Action Series Still on Track, Creator Confirms!

In the year 2006, the movie adaptation of ‘Eragon’ was released, yet it received unfavorable feedback from both fans and critics alike. Many viewers felt that it deviated too much from the source material and lacked compelling narrative. Consequently, the intended sequels were never produced due to this negative reception.

2021 found me, a devoted cinephile, echoing my fellow fans of the ‘Eragon’ book series on Twitter with the hashtag #EragonRemake. For 15 years, we yearned for Disney, now in possession of the rights following their acquisition of 21st Century Fox, to breathe new life into the books by transforming them into a riveting TV series for Disney+. Our collective call resonated, and when author Christopher Paolini caught wind of our movement, he lent his voice in support, even joining us in the campaign for this beloved tale’s rebirth on the small screen.

Back on July 25th of this year, I got some exciting news as a cinephile: It seems a live-action ‘Eragon’ series is shaping up for streaming on Disney+! As it turns out, Christopher Paolini himself will be lending his pen to the project, with Bert Salke taking on the role of executive producer. Can’t wait to see how this beloved fantasy tale unfolds on the small screen!

Since 2022 and 2025, there have been significant events, including industry strikes that slowed down many productions. However, the creator of the franchise, Christopher Paolini, has reassured us that the project is moving forward as planned: “By the way, the #Eragon show on Disney+ is still progressing. I can’t reveal anything until a significant contract is finalized. (Hollywood negotiations can take an eternity.),” Paolini tweeted on Saturday.

By the way, the Disney+ series based on Eragon is moving forward, but I can’t reveal any additional details until a significant agreement is finalized. (Negotiations in Hollywood can be quite lengthy.)
