Fans were captivated by the chemistry between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield while they starred together as love interests in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Looking back at their professional relationship, which coincidentally transpired during their romantic off-screen relationship, Stone fondly recalled her time filming for the Marvel movie, describing it as a “unique period” in her life.
In a chat with Vogue, the two-time Academy Award winner opened up about how the individuals working alongside her on film sets significantly enhanced her overall movie-making experience.
Emma Stone talks about working with Andrew Garfield
During an interview with the media outlet, Emma Stone openly expressed her fondness for playing the role of Spider-Man. She elaborated, “Truthfully, I adored being part of Spider-Man. Everyone I collaborated with was fantastic. I encountered Andrew and Sally Field there. Marc Webb was simply marvelous. It was indeed a remarkable period in my life.
She continued by saying, “The dominant idea that resonates is the focus on people. In a way, it’s similar to the movie itself, and it’s these aspects that have lingered in my memory for such a long time. And as a result, I can only look back on this entire experience with great fondness.
Despite the film receiving praise, the actress mentioned one issue – the exhausting press tours. Recounting her experience, she described a grueling schedule of visiting nine countries within just two weeks, leaving her constantly fatigued and feeling mentally disoriented, which she likened to a persistent state of being psychotic throughout the ordeal.
In previous interviews, just like others, Andrew Garfield has spoken highly of filming The Amazing Spider-Man series. During a 2021 conversation with Variety, the actor expressed that his experience was “wonderful” as he had the opportunity to meet Emma Stone and collaborate with her on set.
Over a span of four years, the actor and the Eddington star were romantically involved, but they decided to part ways at the close of 2015.
In the movie, it’s Gwen Stacy, played by Stone, who meets her unfortunate demise in the closing scenes. Meanwhile, Garfield continues his role as both Spider-Man and Peter Parker in the newest installment of the series, titled Spider-Man: No Way Home. Interestingly, this film also features Toby Maguire and Tom Holland reprising their roles as Spider-Man.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is available to stream on Prime Video.
