Emma Chamberlain Reveals She Got Diagnosed With PCOS at Hair Salon: ‘Really Changed My Life…’

Emma Chamberlain recently discovered that she has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in an unexpected way – during a hair wash at a salon. A nearby woman, who happened to be an obstetrician-gynecologist, noticed her acne and made the diagnosis. PCOS is a hormonal issue that typically affects women during their reproductive years.

In conversation with Vogue, the 23-year-old revealed that a brief conversation at the hair salon with a doctor, more than a year prior, had a profound impact on her life. Following the use of medication to balance hormones within her body, the YouTube personality noticed substantial improvement in her acne, resulting in clearer skin.

She mentioned, “My menstrual cycle feels significantly calmer now, and my skin has become more consistent. Additionally, my hair appears to be growing denser. It’s as if I’m gradually regaining my usual self.

Last year, Emma disclosed that she has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a health issue that causes various problems for her such as irregular periods, acne breakouts, mood swings like anxiety and depression, along with numerous other complications. On YouTube, she’s opened up about knowing many women who have PCOS, and even her mother battles with this condition.

In the Vogue’s “Get Ready With Me” video, Emma candidly discussed her intricate connection with YouTube. For quite some time, she had yearned for something beyond being a YouTuber, which caused her considerable distress. However, she eventually recognized that she cherished being a YouTuber. This was the dream she nurtured as a child. She questioned herself, “Why am I undermining myself?” since she had achieved what she always wanted.

At sixteen, Emma started her own YouTube channel. As of now, she boasts an impressive subscriber base of over 12 million users on this popular platform.

In the world of cinema, the YouTuber has prepared for her grand cinematic entrance with the movie “Forbidden Fruits.” This film narrates the story of a retail worker who covertly manages a “witchy femme cult” in the mall’s basement. Alongside the YouTuber, Lola Tung, Lili Reinhardt, Victoria Pedretti, and Alexandra Shipp are also part of the cast. The movie is anticipated to hit the screens in 2026.
