Rudd has often expressed her admiration for Eiichiro Oda’s work, both in interviews about her role and regarding the original manga. She described Oda as “an absolute genius,” adding that it’s difficult to disagree with such talent.
She’s also shared her personal connection to the story. When talking about the show’s central ideas, she described it as being about the families we choose, the importance of freedom, and following your passions.
Rudd acknowledged the pressure of taking on such a famous role. She explained that she felt a lot of responsibility for how the adaptation of Nami’s story would be received, saying she knew the success of the project would largely depend on her performance.
Besides her work on One Piece, Colleen Rudd has been actively involved in other projects. She recently provided the English voice for Marcille Donato in the anime series Delicious in Dungeon, and she’ll appear in the upcoming film, Whalefall. Many fans will also recognize her from the Fear Street movies, where she skillfully played the dual roles of Cindy and Abigail Berman.
Iñaki Godoy will return as Luffy and Mackenyu as Zoro, alongside Jacob Romero and Taz Skylar. The cast is also growing with new faces: Joe Manganiello will play Mr. 0, Katey Sagal will be Dr. Kureha, and David Dastmalchian will portray Mr. 3.
